Lauren & Craig – On the Up!
Lauren & Craig
Lochside House Hotel, New Cumnock
Lauren & Craig met as teenagers, but had their first kiss on New Year’s Eve 2011 and have been together ever since.
Craig proposed to Lauren on the day they took possession of the keys to their first house – but he had a nervy weekend as the handover was delayed from the Friday to Monday! As a member of the home Sales team escorted them to their new home, Craig asked them to take a photo of them at the front door of their new home. Craig then asked her to take a second pic. As Lauren turned round to speak to Craig, he was down on one knee and asking her to marry him! They walked into their new home engaged! Another day to remember!
Lauren and Craig describe the build up to the big day – “It was so much fun! Our family, bridesmaids, groomsmen and friends had put in a lot of effort to make the pre-wedding celebrations specials.
Our wedding day was just perfect. We couldn’t have asked for anything more. We were surrounded by all our family and friends. It was a very chilled out day and everyone had a good time.”
Lauren continues, “I got ready at my mum’s house, along with Craig’s Mum and my bridesmaids. We had Ashley from Allure Hair doing our hair and we had Georgina Kane doing our make up. The girls were great and just added to the relaxed atmosphere around the house that morning. I loved my hair and make up! I wasn’t nervous at all until my mum and I were in the car and on our way to the venue. Then – I felt very nervous!
The Lochside Hotel was just the perfect location for us. The weather was perfect that day. The wedding coordinators couldn’t have done enough for us on the lead up to the big day and especially on the big day. Our humanist Les Gray conducted a very personal ceremony. Talking about how Craig and I met and about the adventures we have had over the years. It was quite precious.
Both Craig and I had the most amazing day. We couldn’t stop smiling and during the ceremony and first dance it just felt like there was no one else in the room. Other people commented on how in love we looked and they weren’t wrong. It was perfect!
The dinner and speeches were lovely. My mum done a speech which was very touching. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room. Craig, his dad and best men also done great and had everyone in the room laughing.
Our first dance was Ed Sheeran ‘Perfect’. A lot of his songs remind us of special points in our relationship. Our band were fab! They learned some songs we requested and played them perfectly. We also had a small ceilidh session during the reception which got everyone jigging around the dance floor.
Lorna from Love Is The Key Weddings, who was our venue decorator (and also made our save the date and wedding invitations) was great! Our venue was decorated exactly how I had imagined. Our wedding theme had been from the Disney movie ‘UP’. We based it around ‘Our adventure’. Lorna done a fab job and I can’t thank her enough – it was completely bespoke.
I must comment on my wedding cake and favours. My Aunt Darlene done an amazing job! Our wedding cake was made up of lots of cupcakes. Our wedding favours were also cupcakes. They were just beautiful! She’s a very talented lady.
Our photographers and videographer have captured some great moments that we can keep for years to come. They were so good with us and were very accommodating to us. We weren’t getting pulled away from our guests all day to take photos and it very much suited us. They gave us a good laugh as well that day.”
Craig and Lauren had an important message to record – “We would just like to thank everyone from our parents, bridesmaids, groomsmen, family, friends and all the suppliers who helped make our day what it was! It was very special to us and a day we will never forget!”
