Causes of teeth discolouration

Intrinsic/Internal Staining

Medication: Medication such as; tetracycline causes teeth discolouration.

Ageing: Sadly our teeth darken, as we get older. Combination of years' worth of staining and thinning of enamel exposing darker shaded dentin.

Trauma: Trauma suffered by a tooth can cause an inflammatory reaction, ie haemorrhaging from the pulp which causes the tooth/teeth to appear darker in colour.

Extrinsic/External Staining

Pigments from food, beverages or tobacco products penetrate the microscopic pores or cracks in teeth.

They will initially settle in outer layers of enamel and settle further and further into the structure of the teeth.

Once below the surface, brushing will make no difference and that is where we come in!

We use advanced laser technology together with our unique whitening formula. Its bleaching action results from the oxidation of our unique whitening formula. Our formula releases free radicals that work their way through the structure of the teeth, essentially breaking down and dissolving the stains.

This process removes both surface staining as well as staining deep within the tooth structure and deals with all types of staining as mentioned above. It also lightens the darker shaded dentin, the internal tubular structure which is brown in colour, meaning that structurally the teeth are made whiter. All of this without affecting the enamel or compromising the strength of the teeth
